Olivia Drake is a writer and former editor, reporting in the fields of art, style and culture—as well as developing narrative strategies for creative brands and institutions. Her non-fiction has been published in Harper’s Bazaar, RUSSH, Jane and i-D Magazine. She lives in Byron Bay.

Formerly, Drake held tenure at RUSSH Magazine and leading advertising agency Special Group. Her signature approach draws on seventeen years in media, underscored by fashion  journalism and studies in Japanese poetry. Drake brings vast style and  design knowledge to her literary practice,  always with an emphasis on  the female gaze—citing French feminist  literary theory Écriture Féminine and the works of Hélène Cixous as intrinsic to her craft.

“Part of our pleasure in the poem is that it is a well-made thing...it is a gathering of words and phrases and patterns that have been considered, weighed and selected.”
—Mary Oliver, A Poetry Handbook (1994)

Her work is currently evolving into poetry and fiction genres, scheduled to debut in 2026.
